Hybrid Cloud Engineer

I am currently working as a hybrid cloud engineer for Italtel. My responsibilities are:

1. Managing and optimizing the performance of STMicroelectronics data center.

   
   Normal day activities

   • Performance Monitoring:
     I continuously keep an eye on the health scores in order to identify areas for improvement and ensure all systems function optimally. Enhanced monitoring is conducted using Cisco APIC for real-time network health tracking, traffic flow analysis, and proactive issue resolution.

   • Orchestrating Cisco Nexus 9000 Switches
     The data center under my command is composed of a number of Nexus 9K series switches. My job is to maintain the reliability and high-speed connectivity between applications and servers, ensuring a robust network experience for the client.

   
   Key achievements

   • Migrating a large number of servers among different clients.

   • Replacing expired hardware components such as HDDs and RAMs of APIC and DHCP/DNS servers.

   • Optimizing data center performance by deleting unused Endpoint Groups (EPGs) and application profiles, reducing unnecessary system load.

   All activities are meticulously planned to ensure smooth transitions and minimal service interruptions, with careful selection of appropriate time windows for execution. Prior to each step, a snapshot was taken to ensure system recoverability in case of errors. All tasks were thoroughly documented using screenshots with well-organized dates and time stamps, and reports were provided to the clients. Additionally, after completing each activity, I created detailed guides and published them to the team's shared cloud. This documentation provides clear records of processes and changes for future reference and compliance, and the guides maintain STMicroelectronics' high standards even in my absence, such as during vacations or after ending my service.

2. Replacing the network infrastructure at Niguarda Hospital. 

   In response to Cisco's announcement of the end of sale and support for specific devices, It was necessary to replace some routers and switches in order to
   sustain the connectivity and performance of the hospital. My key responsibilities and achievements included:

   • Identifying critical areas for technological advancements to support the unique demands of a large healthcare facility.

   • Implementing replacement strategies that prioritized advanced security features and high throughput, crucial for maintaining patient confidentiality
     and seamless healthcare services.

   • Incorporating cloud-managed solutions to enhance the network's scalability and facilitate efficient remote management, essential for the dynamic and
     demanding environment of Niguarda Hospital.

   • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the transformation of the network infrastructure was aligned with the hospital's operational needs
     and long-term strategic goals.
     

Functionality Tester

I was working as a functionality tester for Vodafone Italia. My fields of expertise are:

Super Wi-Fi

     The Range extenders are used to reach a longer distance that the router can not reach. It must be provisioned on ACS and monitored on the cloud. The wireless links connecting the the AP to the extender and connecting the extender to the stations must be optimized according to the distance of the wireless link by means of frequency diversity counter measures and independently from each other. On the Inssider software, I monitor the Power transmitted by each AP or extender to check its ability to cover an intended area as well as its ability to self heal in case of a power outage. In all cases, the end user must have a comfortable experience while roaming among different covered areas and have a seamless transition between the extender and the AP.

Performance and QoS
     I Measure the router performance by creating a virtual server and one or more virtual clients on different PCs using IPERF and generating traffic between hosts while monitoring the percentage of lost UDP packets or the maximum throughput in case of TCP connections. In other scenarios, I monitor the QoS applied in case of link saturation and the host prioritization. Moreover, I measure the percentage of idle CPU power that should in all cases be above 90 percent to allow other operations to take place on the router. Furthermore, I measure the consumption of the RAM on the router before, during and after these operations take place. this aims to confirm that the RAM memory is freed successfully after the operations end. This involves using Excel to perform calculations over the registered values of a 24 hours time period.

IXIA
     Beside IPERF, I also use IXIA to imitate a different scenario, which is multiple concurrent HTTP or FTP sessions per host toward a server. in this case, I use IXIA create a number of hosts and a number of concurrent sessions per host while measuring the idle CPU percentage.

     I made an adventurous decision to invest in my education in a country that I was not speaking its language by enrolling in the prestigious Polytechnic University of Milan, which is will known for its excellence in preparing its students for the dynamic job market in of engineering. Over the course of three and a half years, I dedicated myself to obtaining my MSc degree while simultaneously immersing myself in the Italian culture and language through part-time employment.

     During my time at Polimi, I had the privilege of exploring a wide range of multidisciplinary fields within the realm of science and technology. From Radars to Optical fibers, Lasers, and wireless

     I embarked on an exciting path in modern technologies  by joining the program of Communications and Information Engineering at Mansoura University. During my studies, I gained a strong foundation in diverse subjects such as solid state electronics, analog and digital communications, digital signal processing, digital image processing, antennas and wave propagation, and finally integrated circuits design. Engaging with professors and collaborating on challenging projects fueled my passion for engineering. Mansoura University nurtured my critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills, preparing me for a career in engineering. I am grateful for the solid foundation it provided me with and am eager to apply the knowledge I learned throughout 5 years of studies.

     The educational experience at Polimi was truly transformative, as it not only provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of telecommunications engineering but also nurtured my critical thinking skills.      Graduating from Polimi in July 2020 during the pandemic was a moment of immense pride for me, as it symbolized the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. Each weekend, Rashad and I select an english song that we learn the meanings of its words and sing it togther during the lanch break. This aims to improve our english languages.
